I finally got around to moving the foo_bluetooth_ctrl plugin for foobar2000 to my account on Dreamhost. I’d like to hear from you users of the plugin. Are there any of you left?
I know I’ve neglected the plugin for some time now, well ever since I switched to the mac some years ago. I have heard that there are issues with foo_bluetooth_ctrl on Windows Vista, but it should work OK on XP.
I haven’t acquired a copy of Vista yet, since I would have no use for it other than fixing the bugs in foo_bluetooth_ctrl. Due to the fact that I don’t have access to any machine with Vista installed, I haven’t been able to test and get it working… Do you want me to fix it for Vista? Can you help me by testing on Vista? Are you comfortable with debugging C++ and willing to help me fix foo_bluetooth_ctrl on Vista?
Basically I’m trying to figure out if there’s any kind of interest in this plugin anymore? Would I be wasting my time by fixing all the bugs? Are there feature requests?

Today i came across your plugin while i updated my foobar installation. First i thought it would be useless for me, because i didn’t found a working client for my symbian s60 3rd gen. mobile. The original client seems to be no longer maintained and all links to java clients i found where dead (including the one on your site). But then i found the maintained client on: http://jamse.sourceforge.net/ (perhaps you want to add a link to it on your site). Together with this client your plugin works great for me (on XP with foobar 0.9.5)

Hi. I’m an avid foobar2000 user, and a programmer by trade. I recently caved in and picked up an iPhone 3G, and I’ve now got this idea in my head that I’m going to write a foobar remote for it.
I was digging around trying to find anything relevant to perhaps use as a springboard, and the only two promising things that I came up with were: foo_controlserver, which seems kind of clunky and limited, and the Bemused protocol. However, I don’t have any interest in accomplishing this via bluetooth (my desktop doesn’t have it), but instead, over wi-fi.
I was wondering if you were planning to release the source for the 0.9-compatible beta versions of foobluetoothctrl (if I didn’t just miss it somewhere), and I would appreciate any insight you might have on what I’m considering working on. Do you think Bemused is the right way to go?

Argh, that was confusing and embarassing. I somehow originally ended up at http://www.elisanet.fi/jonatan.kronqvist/fb2k/, which I followed to your blog. That’s why I never saw the updated source code.
When I found the updated equivalent of that page, and it looked so similar, but had things I could swear were not there 10 minutes ago…yet were dated February of this year…I thought I’d lost my mind.

However, if you feel generous enough to dish out any advice, I’m still all for that. ;)
@Zach Oops, that really is my bad for leaving the old stuff up on that address and not having it forwarded. Sorry about that, I’ll replace the old site with a forward ASAP.
foo\bluetooth\ctrl can easily be modified to listen on a normal TCP/IP port instead of the current COM-port communication. I did this when I ported it to the 9.x version of foobar 2000, since it was the only way I could test it (on a mac and couldn’t get bluetooth virtualized). It should be enough to change just a few lines of code in the communications source file.
I don’t know if the bemused protocol is your best bet though, since I cannot work on the plugin anymore (i.e. you have to fix the bugs yourself). An old friend did make a plugin that allows remote control over http. Perhaps something like that would be a better fit and require less work?
